See Item 23 on Title 252, Chapter 515 on the Management of Solid Waste for Regulated Medical Waste Management regulations. Complete details on state requirments can be found by contacting the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Land Protection Division.

Oklahoma defines Regulated Medical Waste as:

  • Cultures and stocks
  • Human blood, blood products, body fluids, except urine or feces
  • Untreated sharps
  • Used blood collection bags, tubes, and vials
  • Contaminated carcasses, body parts, bedding of research animals intentionally exposed
  • Isolation wastes, unless determined to be noninfectious
  • HIV-containing cell or tissue cultures, organ cultures, and HIV- or HBV-containing culture medium or other solutions; and blood, organs, or other tissues from experimental animals infected with HIV or HBV
  • Trace chemotherapeutic waste (packaged separately – incinerate only)
