Key Strategies for Maintaining HIPAA Compliance

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things, one of those being the way that Americans view their safety at work and the protocols that organizations have in place. To understand employees’ and business leaders’ concerns regarding COVID-19 safety protocols in the workplace at healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transportation/warehouse businesses, Stericycle conducted a survey of 1,000 U.S. employees who currently work on-site, as well as 450 U.S. business leaders at companies with more than 100 employees.

The Workplace Safety Survey

In its inaugural year, the Workplace Safety Survey highlights the perceptions that employees and business leaders have on COVID-19 safety investments and protocols, corporate responsibility, and concerns about employee safety. The following themes emerged:

  • Most businesses have invested in COVID-19 safety (e.g. masks, gloves, enhanced cleaning, temperature checks), but that may slow in 2021.
  • Safety protocols are in place, but there is room for improvement when it comes to training.
  • Leaders and employees are concerned about safety measure compliance, such as consistent training, cultivating a culture of safety, and resources.
  • Designated PPE disposal areas are needed.
