Taking the Lead in Corporate Diversity - Stericycle Honored at Breakfast of Corporate Champions

Stericycle honored for gender parity and workforce diversity

On November 7th, Stericycle is being recognized by the Women’s Forum of New York for our commitment to advancing gender parity in the boardroom. The honor comes during the Breakfast of Corporate Champions, a biennial event that brings together more than 600 thought leaders and change-makers, including CEOs, board directors and government officials, all bound by the same common goal – achieving 50/50 gender parity in the boardroom by 2025. Stericycle’s CEO, Cindy Miller, represents Stericycle in accepting the honor at the breakfast.

With a corporate board comprised of 40% women, Stericycle greatly exceeds the national average for female-held board seats, which is currently 23.4%. We are proud to continually showcase our commitment to what it means to be a gender-balanced organization, not just in our board, but across the company, including our executive leadership team. For instance, Cindy is joined on the executive team by Janet Zelenka, who was appointed earlier this year as Executive Vice President and CFO.

Our dedication to diversity extends beyond leadership

While the Breakfast of Corporate Champions acknowledges Stericycle’s work in the board room, our commitment to gender parity and workforce diversity spans the entire organization. We constantly seek to provide opportunities for all individuals, fostering equality throughout every department and job level.

“The inclusion of many perspectives is an integral part of Stericycle’s success,” says Cindy Miller, Stericycle’s CEO. “The unique insights that emerge from our diverse workforce increase our ability to recognize and meet our customers’ needs. We embrace a culture that encourages team member engagement and loyalty, communication and camaraderie. This creates an environment where employees enjoy and excel at what they do. As a company, we are passionate about continuous operational improvement and seek out people who are willing to embark on this journey with us, exploring all the opportunities that arise along the way.”

Stericycle also emphasizes gender parity and workforce diversity throughout the supply chain, working with business partners and suppliers that are interested in cultivating equality. One way Stericycle demonstrates this pledge is through corporate sponsorship of the Chicago Supplier Diversity Minority Council, which works with minority entrepreneurs to provide inroads into corporate relationships.
