Waste and Recycling Professionals Gather in Las Vegas for Industry’s Biggest Event

This week, waste and recycling professionals from across the United States are gathering in Las Vegas for North America’s largest solid waste, recycling, organics, food waste recovery, and sustainability tradeshow – WasteExpo. This event is a great opportunity for those in the industry to network, learn best practices, and find innovative waste solutions.

This year, we are very excited to participate in several sessions throughout the Waste360 Healthcare Waste Conference, which is a two-day conference within WasteExpo. Rafa Carrasco, President of WM Healthcare Solutions will be sitting down for an exclusive one-on-one conversation with Michael Hoffman, President and CEO of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). This discussion will delve into the strategy behind WM's acquisition of Stericycle and explore how WM arrived at the decision to add medical waste as a line of business. It will also highlight the opportunities and synergies that have emerged from the acquisition. This conversation promises to be enlightening and informative, shedding light on the dynamic and evolving landscape of the regulated medical waste industry.

Stericycle’s Cara Simaga, Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, will speak at multiple points throughout the conference. On day one, Cara is moderating a session called Healthcare is Moving Home: What are the Implications for the Healthcare Waste Industry? She will be joined by Stericycle’s Kristin Aldred, Director of Government Affairs, and others to discuss this industry trend.

On day two, Cara is presenting on legislative and regulatory updates that may impact those involved in healthcare waste generation and management. Also on that day, she, along with Stericycle’s Mo Azose, Vice President of Operational Environmental Health and Safety, will discuss lithium-ion batteries in medical devices.

As a leader in healthcare waste management, with deep expertise in regulatory compliance and creating biohazardous waste management programs, Stericycle leaders are uniquely qualified to provide valuable insights and advice. Using their rich industry knowledge, they will educate those inside and outside of healthcare about key topics impacting day-to-day operations as well as future strategic planning.
