Stericycle celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15). The month provides an opportunity to honor the culture and achievements of our many Hispanic team members. Observing Hispanic Heritage also helps us reinforce our commitment to fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace for our valued team members. Diversity is a key ingredient for our success, and we are grateful for the ongoing vital contributions of Hispanic Americans to Stericycle.
The Hispanic community has had a great and positive impact in the United States and Heritage Month allows Americans to take the time to recognize and honor their contributions and influence on the nation’s history, culture, and achievements Started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, the observance was expanded to a month by the U.S. Congress in 1988. People are encouraged to observe National Hispanic Month with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
Our employee resource group, Latinx Empowerment with Allied Leadership (LEAL), aims to provide resources for professional development and promote inclusive and equitable workplaces aligned to our values and goals. This year’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off with a virtual event followed by several meet and greets at various local sites. LEAL is also hosting a virtual cooking event, a career path webinar called La Escalera Profesional, and a round or two of the game Lotería at lunch.
