2019 Drug Takeback Survey: Unused Prescriptions and the Opioid Epidemic

1904-HCS-Take-Back-Survey-LP-269x241px.pngIn 2017, the U.S. Department of Health and Human services declared a nationwide public health emergency over the opioid crisis. The following year, Stericycle teamed up with the National Safety Council as its exclusive medication disposal partner. We gave away thousands of Seal&Sendsm Mailback Envelopes that consumers could fill with unused pharmaceuticals then drop in any mailbox for proper disposal.

As a leading provider of safe and secure disposal solutions for pharmaceutical waste, Stericycle strives to stay current in consumer behavior regarding drug disposal. In our second-annual drug takeback study, we surveyed 1,200 U.S. consumers to learn more of their knowledge and behavior in the use, disposal and sharing habits of pharmaceuticals with the goal of increasing our understanding of drug diversion, misuse, risky disposal methods and more. Download our study, “Unused Prescriptions and the Opioid Epidemic”, to learn how Americans identify their concerns, habits and insights of pharmaceutical use and disposal.
