Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Stericycle’s success is a result of the diverse talent and leadership across our entire team. As part of our commitment to protect what matters, we cultivate an inclusive culture where our team members feel welcome, valued, and heard.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Stericycle embraces a culture of belonging, where diverse perspectives and experiences are encouraged, supported, and celebrated. A diverse workplace fuels our innovation and enhances our connection to our customers and the communities we serve. In 2019, Stericycle was recognized by the Women’s Forum of New York for its commitment to advancing gender parity in the boardroom.

We have implemented several measures to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the company, including:

  • Fostering employee resource groups made up of diverse populations that are regularly consulted for perspective
  • Conducting frequent team member training programs and communications on diversity topics
  • Prioritizing recruitment, hiring, and development of team members who have diverse backgrounds and unique experiences
  • Forming an Equity Task Force of Stericycle leaders charged with creating positive disruption in diversity, equity, and inclusion

“Different experiences and ways of thinking are how breakthroughs happen. The friction of different ideas can become the spark that leads to greatness.” - Cindy J. Miller, President and CEO, Stericycle

Our Employee Resource Groups

Stericycle’s employee resource groups (ERGs) provide safe and supportive networks organized around a shared identity to 1) recruit and retain a diverse workforce, and 2) help Stericycle improve support and services to the historically marginalized. Consistent with the mission and core values of Stericycle, our ERG members are supported with career development, networking opportunities, and mentoring. Additionally, the ERGs play a key role in Stericycle’s community engagement as well as identifying and promoting initiatives to support cultural awareness and social justice within the company. We have five employee resource groups:

  • Blacks Unify Inclusion Leadership and Diversity (BUILD): BUILD aims to create a positive and inclusive environment for Black employees with the goal of creating a pathway to Black leadership through training and open dialogue.
  • Latinx Empowerment with Allied Leadership (LEAL): LEAL aims to provide resources for professional development and promote inclusive and equitable workplaces aligned to Stericycle’s values and goals.
  • Freedom for Individual Expression, Respecting Colleagues and Equality (FIERCE): FIERCE aims to promote an equitable and inclusive culture for LGBTQ+ identified team members. The group supports and provides resources for a community of openly LGBTQ+ identified team members, allies, and leadership, creating and driving an intersectional LGBTQ+ inclusive culture at Stericycle.
  • Veterans: Our Veterans group is dedicated to recognizing, appreciating and supporting Stericycle’s veterans, military members, their families, and the communities in which they live and work.
  • Women’s Resource for Impact, Success, and Empowerment (WRISE): WRISE is dedicated to supporting, empowering, and inspiring team members to become advocates for their careers and personal development by providing opportunity and exposure to various resources internally and externally.
