Sharps DOs and DON’Ts
DO always place used needles, syringes, and lancets into an approved sharps container.
DO keep sharps containers in a child and animal-proof area.
DON’T put sharps in soda cans or bottles, juice bottles, glass containers, or milk cartons.
DON’T put sharps containers or loose sharps into your trash or recycling bin.
DON’T flush needles or lancets down the toilet. They may end up on our beaches and rivers.
DON’T mix other hazardous waste products (batteries, unused medicine, etc) with your needles.
DON’T empty the contents of your sharps container into the Stericycle Needle Drop Box.
