Our Emergency Response Team
We are fully equipped to handle spills of virtually any type of hazardous or non-regulated substances. Our emergency spill response team can provide expert crew members ranging from Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, fully degreed chemists, to OSHA trained heavy equipment operators and technicians, as well as all necessary equipment and supplies. For each project, a qualified Emergency Response Specialist is on site to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Our emergency spill response team is dedicated to minimizing the effects to human health and the environment.
We can handle a wide variety of liquid and solid spills:
- Mercury, Cyanide and other Heavy Metal Spills
- Acid/Base spills
- Tanker spills
- Pesticide spills
- Manhole pump-outs
- Abandoned or leaking containers and drums
- Explosive materials
- Gaseous material leaks
- PCB transformers
We will provide transportation and proper disposal of any materials recovered from the spill. While maintaining communication with all local, state and federal agencies and disposal sites, our team will assist with all EPA determinations, manifest preparation, as well as selection of appropriate disposal and/or storage facilities.

- Spill Coordinator
- Cleanup personnel
- Transportation personnel
Procedure
- Customer calls Stericycle
- Stericycle Spill Coordinator is contacted via pager.
- Stericycle Spill Coordinator calls customer.
- Gathers information (i.e. chemical spilled, location and size of spill).
- Determines the technical resources required, including personnel, equipment and supplies, to properly respond to the spill and provides an estimated time of arrival at the scene.
- Spill Coordinator contacts on-call personnel.
- Spill response team arrives on site with necessary equipment and supplies and initiates spill response.
